9/9/14 Cove Mountain Resorts R.V. Park, Sevierville, TN
We wanted to get a fairly early start being we had a 5-6 hour drive to Cove Mountain Resorts R.V. Park in Sevierville, TN just outside the "Great Smokey Mountains National Park". We wanted to be on the road by 10am central time. Being we cross back over into the Eastern time zone we loose an hour so figuring if the trip took 6 hours that would put us arriving at our camp site around 5pm. We were up in plenty of time to not have to rush which turned out to be a good thing. Apparently during our 7 mile hike the other day we must have came into contact with some poison ivy. Well I've never had poison ivy before, but I was sure being introduced to it now. Jami had mentioned last night that she thought she may have it and I saw a few bumps on my ankles, But thought nothing of it. But this morning it was showing up all up and down both of our legs. And itch it did!!! We both put on some cream that we had which seemed to help a little. We got things packed up, ate a small breakfast and headed to the dump station to empty our tanks. Once finished with that always wonderful job we were on the road right at 10, perfect. Being that I'm still holding a grudge towards our GPS's I had planned out our route on-line and printed out the direction's. Of course I will still have my GPS on just incase :)
I was a bit nervous about the first few roads we would travel on knowing that they would be pretty narrow, curvy and hilly, but it wasn't near as bad as I was thinking and everything went smoothly. We decided to stick to the larger roads even though it would be more miles to travel knowing that some of the smaller roads in the mountains can very difficult and exhausting. Most of the trip was excellent, nice wide and smooth roads, lite traffic and great weather.
It wasn't till we reached Knoxville, TN did traffic really pick up. We arrive at Cove Mountain Resorts R.V. Park just before 5pm, right on schedule :) Got checked in and headed to our site. Jami noticed right away the water, sewer and electric was on the wrong side of the camp site. We debated about pulling forward into the site, but ultimately decided the back in like normal. This isn't the first time we've seen this so we didn't think that much of it and backed in. Once we got everything set up and started looking around we noticed everyone had pulled straight into there sites and then drove there truck through the grass to get parked behind there RV. Oh Well, were parked and set up now :)
Nice large campsite
The below picture shows everyone else pulled in forward.
We decided to run into town to get the proper poison ivy anti itch cream and grab a bit to eat for dinner. We noticed that when we don't move a lot like while driving we don't itch much, but as soon as we start walking around it acts like ants, everything okay and then WHAM!!! you itch everywhere it is all at once! The new anti itch cream Jami bought helps a lot, but doesn't totally stop it from itching if your walking around so this visit to the Smokey Mountains may be a bust :(
We had picked up some subs from Subway and headed back to the house (RV). We were excited to watch the season premier of "Son's Of Anarchy" tonight so we planted ourselves in our TV watching positions and tried not to move much. Then it was straight to bed :)
