10/6/14 Rocky Point Campground. Texarkana, TX

I got some much needed sleep last night, I didn't get out of bed till 9:30!!  Jami followed about 30 minutes later.  We needed to stop by a post office today to mail the weigh reports to Walter & Amy.  Jami found a post office in Texarkana about 15 miles away.  So we did our morning routine's, both of us on our electronics, walk Jemma, then Jami made us some delicious omelets for breakfast.

Once we finished eating we jumped in the truck to head into Texarkana, first I wanted to check out another COE campground next to ours "Piney Point", there's even a 1.75 mile walking trail that connects the two.  The campground is smaller than the one were in, but just as nice.

From there we drove into the town of Texarkana to the post office. But this post office is special, it is the only building in America that straddles a state line, it is half in Texas and half in Arkansas.  They call it the "Half-N-Half Post Office".  We of course took full advantage of the photo op and walk in and out of each state a number of times.  At on point we stood in both states at the same time, kind of neat.

From there we headed towards a produce market Jami found on-line.  One of the things Jami enjoys is finding fresh fruits and vegetables at local outdoor produce stands, plus its our way of contributing to the local economy.  Unfortunately, we could not find it at the address we had.  That seems to happen a lot with small produce stands, I guess they either move around to find better locations, go out of business or show up when they want.  Oh Well.

On our way back home we passed a Dairy Queen that was calling out our names, so we pulled in and parked.  Jami ordered a "Heath Blizzard", I ordered a "Oreo Brownie Earthquake" and Jemma ordered a small bowl of vanilla soft serve ice cream :)  We sat outside on the provided tables and enjoyed our treat.

That was delicious!!!  Once done we headed home.  One thing that is hard to get used to in this area is the speed limits.  We've seen 70mph on 2 lane roads on our way here and on the main road 59 that our campground is off of it's 75mph.  It does lower to 55mph when you go through small towns, but not being used to these faster speed limits sometimes I found myself holding up traffic, Sorry :)

When we got home we decided we would take Jemma on a walk on the trail that connects the two campgrounds.  I grabbed 2 water bottles and we were off.  It was a nice trail and very well marked, there was also a nice bridge that looked to be newly built.

We turned around just short of "Piney Point" campground and headed back towards home.  My knee was hurting a bit today and Jemma was getting over heated.  The trail crosses a road that leads down to the lake, but the road has been closed and blocked off with large rocks blocking a vehicle from driving on it.  There was plenty of room to walk around the rocks so we took a little side trip to the lake, Jemma was so glad to reach the water she went straight in and didn't come out for at least 5 or more minutes.  Once Jemma stopped panting we headed back up the road to our trail and continued towards home.  That was a nice 3 mile walk.

Jami took her shower and then I took mine.  While I was in the shower Jami had dinner almost done so I got our TV trays in position and drinks ready.  We sat down and ate a delicious dinner while watching some TV.  After dinner we did some more TV watching till just after 9pm when I told Jami I was feeling tired.  Yes, at only 9pm I was feeling tired.  So we took Jemma outside to go potty which turned into this whole ordeal.  All we want was Jemma to tinkle, and all Jemma wanted to do is smell and track armadillos.  In the end Jemma won and did not go potty.  We watched some TV in bed but I was asleep long before 10pm.

Tomorrow is travel day, and were thinking about going to "Beaver Bend Resort Park" in Oklahoma, but haven't decided for sure yet.  Stay turned to find out where we end up :)
