Knowing we were going to make the 6 hour drive to our wintering spot in Saint Cloud Florida today we were up and preparing to leave earlier than normal. We both ate breakfast and were ready to pull out of our campsite just before 10:00. I drove over to the dump station while Jami went ahead to fill the Toyota up with gas for today's long trip. I was on the road at 10:20. Today's trip was going to be all highway, yuck! I jump on Hwy 75 south ahead of Jami as she was still filling up with gas, but it didn't take her to long to catch up. From there is was cruise control on 65 for the rest of the day. We hit a few rest areas along the way for potty breaks. At our last stop Jami took over driving the dually towing our 5th wheel camper the rest of the way home. She did a terrific job going through the narrow toll booths and once we exited from the highways onto the narrower smaller streets Jami did a great job in traffic and swinging wide enough on all the turns. She really is doing very well! We arrived at our destination at 4:00 and got parked and set up. Gave my Mom and Kenny some over due hugs and got caught up on all the things we missed while we were gone traveling.
Around 6:30 we all went out for dinner and of course the conversation never slowed down the whole time as there was so much catching up to do. Once back home Jami & I went inside and began going through a lot of our mail that my Moms been holding for us and watched some TV before going to bed around 11:00. It is nice to be back and were both excited to go visit our friends here.
I wont continue to post this journal daily while here for the winter, But i may do a weekly or bi-weekly post.

10/28/14 Georgia Veterans State Park, Cordele, GA
I did much better this morning by sleeping in till 7:45 without waking up once. I did my normal thing and got on my laptop and did yesterdays journal entry. Jemma got up before Jami did so i took Jemma on a walk around our campground loop. Jami was up at 9:00 so we sat outside for her morning coffee. We were in no rush to pack up for today's 160 mile trip to Georgia Veterans State Park, but somehow pulled out of our campsite at 10:00 to head to the dump station. Once that was done we were on the road around 10:15. The good thing about pulling out earlier than normal today is that we cross into the Eastern Time Zone so we will loose and hour during our trip.
It was a great travel day with very little traffic on mostly non-highway roads. Highways may get you there fast, but it's not very enjoyable. We arrived at Veterans State Park at 3:00 so today's drive took almost 4 hours. We paid for 1 night and then went and selected a site. The only sites that would allow us to get satellite with our roof top satellite was the lake front ones so we selected site #14 Once we got the camper parked we took Jemma for a nice walk around the camp ground.

Our campsite
Returning from a walk, Jemma going straight to the water to cool down
Once Jemma was cooled down we jumped back in the Toyota and drove back to the office. This is a large campground so walking to the office was out of the question today. First thing i wanted to do is question the $31.70 price we were charged for 1 night of camping. We though the camping rates were $24-28 per night, plus we have a Georgia State park pass that we purchased earlier in the year that gives us 10% off camping. When i first walked into the office there was no one inside, so i continued into the small museum they have in the same building with many military items from years past displayed.
Once i walked out of the museum the lady that was running the office was back. Well, after speaking to the lady we did receive our discount cause the normal price for 1 night of camping is $35. WOW!! That's very high for electric & water only even with it being water front. We were originally debating on staying 2 nights, but not anymore.
After that we walked over to the many military items they have on display outside.
Amazing the above amphibious transport floats. That's a lot of steel
Jemma was getting bored of us looking at stuff, so Jami went running around in the field with her.
Jemma did however find this small mini tank interesting
We drove back to our campsite and sat outside debating on if we wanted to make the 6 hour drive home tomorrow or make one more stop along the way. With no decision made we went inside for some dinner. After dinner Jami jumped in the shower while i prepared tonight's campfire, then when she was done and back outside i left her to tend the fire while i took my shower.
We sat out by the fire till almost 11:30 chatting it up. We did decide that we would attempt the long drive home tomorrow, but we always had the option of stopping for one more night if either one of us gets tired. Plus Jami said she wanted to drive the dually pulling the camper on a portion of the trip. I think its important that she is able to drive and maneuver the dually and camper just in case i was unable too for whatever reason so i'm glad she is wanting to practice some more.
Once in bed we really couldn't get to sleep rite away. It was just after 11:30, but to us it was only 10:30 due to the time change. So we probably laid there till close to 1AM watching TV before falling asleep.

10/27/14 Wind Creek State Park. Alexander City, AL
I slept in a little later today, first i woke at 7:00, then woke again at 8:00. That works, so i got up ans got yesterdays journal done and posted. Jemma was ready to get up and go outside so i took her for a little walk around the campground loop we're parked in. When we returned Jami was now ready to get up so i started her coffee and offered to take her for a walk :) Just kidding!
It was very foggy this morning, you could barely see across the street, but the temperature was just right. Just cold enough to be refreshing, but not so cold i had to wear pants. Perfect. We sat outside for awhile watching the fog burn off and the other side of the lake slowly show itself. We went back inside, started some laundry and Jami started cooking so breakfast. Once she was done we sat down to eat eggs, bacon, hash-browns and toast. It was so good! It was just after 11:00 by now so we decided it was time to get our paperwork completed from the weightings we did last week and then head into town to mail it off.
We needed to fuel up the Diesel truck so we took that into town. First we stopped at Walmart so Jami could pick up some wine, then we headed to the post office and lastly we stopped to fill up the truck with fuel. Once home I first cleaned the bugs off the front of our camper, then we wanted to take Jemma on a nice long walk and let her go play in the lake, so that just what we did. We walked around a portion of the lake and even joined Jemma in the lake. I had a few great pictures, but my phone ran out of room to store anymore so when i went through it to get rid of some older ones i mistakenly deleted them. Darn!!!
We had a good time running around in the water with Jemma and finally tired out after about an hour or so. We returned home, Jami made us some sandwiches to hold us over till dinner and then gave Jemma a bath. I was surprised to see it was 6:00 already. We relaxed for awhile and did stuff on our laptops and tablets before having some dinner, taking a shower and assuming the evening TV watching position.
Oh, i forgot to mention yesterday while we were enjoying the campfire we heard a pack of coyotes doing a bunch of howling. Then tonight when we took Jemma out for the last time to go potty we heard then again. Kinda scary! I wonder if they caught dinner and were celebrating the triumph?
Anyway, we called it a night and went to bed around 10:30. Tomorrow is a travel day so we didn't want to stay up to late.

10/26/14 Wind Creek State Park. Alexander City, AL
I didn't sleep in as late as i was hoping, i first woke up at 6:00 and did my best to fall back asleep. I did for a little bit, but by 7:00 i was up. I started working on yesterdays journal and contemplating whether to stay here another day or to move on. We don't like doing 1 night stays, but were wanting to get to our home base in Florida on Friday the 31st so unless we want to do some really long driving days are going to have to do some 1 nighters.
Jami was up at 8:00 and we discussed our options during her morning coffee time. Ultimately we decided to go ahead and move on today. Jami did some quick research on-line to see what campground options we had in the direction we were traveling. I like to think i'm awesome at finding nice campgrounds, but truth be told, Jami is much better at it. Sshhh, don't tell her i said that :)
We both had breakfast and then began packing up which didn't take to long. The Toyota needed gas so Jami headed out to do that while i went to the dump station. One finished dumping tanks i was on the road around 12:00. Jami was waiting for me to pass by her at the gas station so she could assume the standard driving position behind me. It was a great travel day with no real traffic and no Interstate highways.
We arrived at Wind Creek State Park a little before 4:00 and jumped in the Toyota to check out the campground and select our campsite. This is a HUG campground on Lake Martin with well over 600 campsites ranging from 30amp electric w/water to full hook-ups w/50amp electric. There were a lot of people in the area with full hook ups, probably people here for the season, so we selected site D-45 where there was only 1 other camper in this loop. We went back, picked up the camper and was parked, set up and ready to relax a little after 4:00. A campground with this many campsite would normally not be our thing, especially with not much separation between the sits, but with it being off-peak season and no body around us, this park is awesome.
The above pictures is our campsite, forgot to post them in yesterdays post. Below is a tree in our site turning colors, though it was pretty.

Jami cooked us some dinner and we ate in front of the TV with our dinner trays as normal. I was in the mood for a camp fire tonight and some wine, but Jami only had a little bit of her wine left so we decided to take a drive. I dropped Jami off at Walmart while i went to fill the Toyota up with gas. When i picked Jami up she had a sad look on her face :( Apparently alcohol cant be sold on Sundays here. Oh well, she'll have to nurse the 1/2 bottle she has left.
Once home Jami jumped in the shower while i built the fire and got it blazing. Once she came outside i then went and took my shower. It was only 7:30 by the time we were both sitting outside around the fire. It sure is starting to get dark early now.
My girls enjoying the warmth of an awesome campfire.
We sat outside chatting about whatever came to mind, played some games on our tablets and also researched which campground we were going to next. We hadn't decided yet if we were only staying 1 night here or 2 nights, but after planning the rest of our trip to Florida we decided we would stay 2 nights. That also give me some time to clean the bugs off the front of the camper. We called it a night and went inside for bed at 11:30.

10/25/14 Whitten Park, Fulton, MS
I was up at 6:00 finishing yesterdays journal entry and getting it posted. I was obviously struggling to get it done and fell behind a day or two. This morning i finally was able to post the journal entry on time, yea!! Jami was up at 6:45 so we both ate a little breakfast and headed out at 7:30 to meet our first weighing at the Holiday Inn.
With the weather showing today's high at 85 i was thrilled to be able to were shorts today. We had everything set up and ready for our first weighing by 7:40. We've got this routine down pretty good now, we can usually get set up in about 5 minutes. Once our first weighing showed up just before 8:00 we got to work and got them weighed. We spent a good amount of time with them due to one tire carrying much more weight than the others. We couldn't find a problem by just looking at the suspension, but his RV is under warranty so he is going to take it to have it looked at. Our next weighing wasn't till 9:00 so we waited for a bit till they arrived. We got him weighed and then it was the waiting game again till our last weighing scheduled at 10:00. Our last weighing showed up a little early so we got him weighed and was packed up and heading home by 10:00.
Today was moving day so we started getting packed up and ready to travel. It took us a little longer than normal to get everything ready, but that's only because we've been here for 10 days so we had a lot more stuff taken out. We drove to the dump station, dumped our tanks and were on the road at 12:00. We had a long 51/2 hour drive today to Whitten Park COE Campground in Fulton, MS. We wouldn't have driven this far, but all the State parks that were closer didn't have any open campsites. Guess everyone is getting out and doing as much as they can outdoors before winter arrives.
It was terrific drive on nice roads with very little traffic except when we were nearing Memphis. There was construction that caused a 20 minute delay. We must have been making good time cause we arrived at 5:30. We selected our site, parked and set up by 6:10.
We took Jamma for a walk around the park and then went inside for some dinner. We were feeling pretty worn out so we watched some TV and went to bed just after 10:00

10/24/14 Greers Ferry Lake Dam Site Park. Heber Springs, AR
I was up at 6:15 this morning to get ready to start our day of weighing RV's. Our first appointment was at 8:00 at the Holiday Inn parking lot about 5 minutes up the road from our campground. After that one weighing there was a gap till the next weighing at 10:00 so i let Jami sleep in a little while i went to weigh the first one at 8:00 by myself. I should receive good brownie points for that :)
On the way i stopped and picked up some doughnuts for the people at Holiday Inn for letting us use their parking lot. I arrived at 7:30, went inside to drop off the doughnuts and began getting set up for my 8:00 weighing. They showed a little early so i got them weighed and went over all their numbers before 8:00. I loaded everything up and headed back home. I arrived home just as Jami was getting out of bed. We chatted a bit and got on our tablets till it was time to leave. Knowing that our 10:00 weighing would probably be early we headed out at 9:20. We were set up and ready by 9:40 when RV's began showing up. The line only got behind once with 2 people waiting, but it was only because they showed up early. We got everyone weighed before their scheduled time and even squeezed in an add-on that just showed up.
We finished up and got back home around 1:30, but we still had one more lady in our campground to weigh today. I walked over to her campsite to let her know we were back and to help her find the weight rating on her RV. She is a new solo RV'er and i always admire the courage of single woman to not let being single stop them from living this wonderful RV lifestyle. She pulled her motorhome out onto the main road in front of our campground loop while i walked back to our campsite to get our truck and meet her on the road. We unload the scales and got her weighed, she also paid to have her car weighed that she tows behind her motorhome so she went and parked her motorhome and drove her car back. We weighed the car and then we both went back to our campsites. I printed out her weigh report and tire charts and walked over the her place. I alway spend a good amount of time with each person we weigh going over the weighing number to make sure they understand everything, but when it come to solo female RV'ers i always spend extra time going over their numbers making sure they fully understand why their RV may be heavier on one side or the other, how they can help correct it if its excessive, what air pressures they should have in their tires and why. I have found so far that most solo female RV'ers really want to not only learn what to do, but want to understand why. I get so inspired that i cant help myself but to spend the extra time to make sure they completely understand everything and why, plus they are always so thankful and appreciative that they make me really feel great inside that i made a positive difference. It's such a blessing.
Once that was all done Jami and i took Jemma for a long walk though some closed campground loops and down to the lake. We were probably walking for a good hour before making it back home around 5:00. We were speaking with our neighbors in the campsite next to us two days ago who is from New Jersey, when it came out that i lived in NJ for awhile we some how ended up talking about Pork Roll. Pork Roll is only really known in NJ and NY to my knowledge, so for those that don't know Pork Roll, it's also known as Taylor Ham. Click the link if your not sure what Pork Roll is. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pork_roll
It just so happened they had a big roll of it in their fridge so they invited us to dinner tonight to have egg, cheese & pork roll sandwiches. Oh was that an immediate YES, we'll be there!!! It's been over a year since the last time I've had any cause it's hard to find unless your in NJ and it can be a bit pricey if you do find it. We walked next door at 5:30 and meet another couple that was invited too. they were from Canada and had never heard of Pork Roll so this was a first taste for them. Everything was cooked outside on a griddle and with the smell and sizzle of the pork roll cooking it was all i could do to not snatch one off the pan and eat it. But i made it till everything was ready and volunteered to be the first one to make their sandwich :) OH MAN was that soooooo good! It first started attacking my sandwitch, and then realized it may be another years or more before i get pork roll again so i slowed it way down and enjoyed it for as long as i could. Once finished, but craving more i glanced over at the griddle, and to my surprise i saw a slice of pork roll left, Hmmm, i think i'll allow myself to take that. Down the hatch :) Usually i will never take the last food item on the table thinking someone else may want it, but when it comes to pork roll it's every man for himself :)
We then all sat around a fire and chatted till about 8:30 when we all called it a night. We went home to get showers and i finally was able to get caught up on the journal. We called it a night and went to bed around 10:30. Tomorrow we have 3 more weighings scheduled in the morning and then we have to get the rig packed up and hit the road. We have no idea where were going tomorrow, the only thing we do know is it will be in the direction of Florida.

10/22/14 Greers Ferry Lake Dam Site Park. Heber Springs, AR
Today i was giving a seminar on "Weight & Tire Safety" at 8:00 so we had to be up pretty early again to get ready. We were both out of bed by 6:00 in order to have plenty of time get to the Activities center and get my computer all set up for our presentation slide show. We had everything ready to go with 15 minutes to spare.
We had around 60 people show up,with even a few people having to stand, WOW! I felt i gave a great seminar and had lots of participation and questions from the attendees. I went a little long with our seminar and had plenty of people lined up to schedule their weighing with Jami. Eventually we had to vacate the room and get the last person signed up out in the hallway.
We then went home to prepare our camper for the "Home Show" where those that volunteer can open the homes up to those that are interested in seeing what a lived in RV looks like. We also had a truck we needed to weigh. We got everything ready for the Home Show and honestly we really didn't think we would get much traffic. Welp, i was wrong, way wrong!! Group after group after double groups were showing up. I was answering as many questions as i could and then has to sneak out of there to weigh a truck out in the street leaving Jami there alone to speak to the crowds :)
After i got the truck weighed i noticed some information on his paperwork missing so i drove just down the street to the "H" loop where he was camped to get the missing information. Another gentleman that was scheduled to get weighed approached me and asked if i could get him weighed now, i said sure, we can go ahead and get your truck weighed today. I saw he didn't have his paperwork filled out yet so i told him to go ahead and get that done and then drive down to my campsite so we can get the truck weighed.
I returned to our campsite to talk to everyone at our rig and to answer questions. The crowds would come and go so every now and then we could catch our breath. Eventually the gentlemen showed up to get his truck weighed, but he showed up with his camper too. Hmmm, i guess were going to weigh the whole thing and then he will need to come back so i can weigh just his truck. He pulled onto the main street in front of our campground loop and i got him weighed. Then he needed to go park the camper and come back with his truck, but again i noticed some missing information of his paperwork so i drove over to his campsite when i notice he didn't have his weight distribution bars hooked up. His camper is a large travel trailer and what the weight distribution bars do is to transfer some of the weight being put on the back of the truck to the front of the truck. That will change all the weights that i just got, so i had to ask him to please connect these bars and pull back onto the street. I could see the frustration in his face, but it was necessary and he understood why after i explained it to him.
I went back home and waited for him to get pulled back out while i again was speaking to people about our RV. It didn't take him to long to show up to get re-weighed so i ran out to the street and got it done again. He re-parked his travel trailer and returned so i could weigh his truck only, but this time he showed up without his wife, Gesh. I weighed the truck and added some weight to compensate for his missing wife. He went back to his campsite while i went to mine to enter the weights in the computer and print out his report and tire charts. I got stuck talking to more people looking at our RV so it took me awhile before i was able to drive over to Campground loop "H" to go over the weighing numbers with him. Once that was done the "Home Show was just ending so Jami and i were able to site down and catch our breaths for a moment before we had to leave and drive to the Holiday Inn to weigh a few Trucks. By the time we got that done it was dinner time so we stopped at Subway on our way home for dinner. One home we ate our subs, took showers and watch a little TV before going to be at 9:00
Sorry for the lack of pictures, i haven't had the time to get them uploaded and posted on these journals lately.
