10/26/14 Wind Creek State Park. Alexander City, AL

I didn't sleep in as late as i was hoping, i first woke up at 6:00 and did my best to fall back asleep.  I did for a little bit, but by 7:00 i was up.  I started working on yesterdays journal and contemplating whether to stay here another day or to move on.  We don't like doing 1 night stays, but were wanting to get to our home base in Florida on Friday the 31st so unless we want to do some really long driving days are going to have to do some 1 nighters.

The above pictures is our campsite, forgot to post them in yesterdays post.  Below is a tree in our site turning colors, though it was pretty.

Jami was up at 8:00 and we discussed our options during her morning coffee time.  Ultimately we decided to go ahead and move on today.  Jami did some quick research on-line to see what campground options we had in the direction we were traveling.  I like to think i'm awesome at finding nice campgrounds, but truth be told, Jami is much better at it.  Sshhh, don't tell her i said that :)

We both had breakfast and then began packing up which didn't take to long.  The Toyota needed gas so Jami headed out to do that while i went to the dump station.  One finished dumping tanks i was on the road around 12:00.  Jami was waiting for me to pass by her at the gas station so she could assume the standard driving position behind me.  It was a great travel day with no real traffic and no Interstate highways.

We arrived at Wind Creek State Park a little before 4:00 and jumped in the Toyota to check out the campground and select our campsite.  This is a HUG campground on Lake Martin with well over 600 campsites ranging from 30amp electric w/water to full hook-ups w/50amp electric.  There were a lot of people in the area with full hook ups, probably people here for the season, so we selected site D-45 where there was only 1 other camper in this loop.  We went back, picked up the camper and was parked, set up and ready to relax a little after 4:00.  A campground with this many campsite would normally not be our thing, especially with not much separation between the sits, but with it being off-peak season and no body around us, this park is awesome.

Jami cooked us some dinner and we ate in front of the TV with our dinner trays as normal.  I was in the mood for a camp fire tonight and some wine, but Jami only had a little bit of her wine left so we decided to take a drive.  I dropped Jami off at Walmart while i went to fill the Toyota up with gas.  When i picked Jami up she had a sad look on her face :(  Apparently alcohol cant be sold on Sundays here.  Oh well, she'll have to nurse the 1/2 bottle she has left.

Once home Jami jumped in the shower while i built the fire and got it blazing.  Once she came outside i then went and took my shower.  It was only 7:30 by the time we were both sitting outside around the fire.  It sure is starting to get dark early now.

My girls enjoying the warmth of an awesome campfire.

We sat outside chatting about whatever came to mind, played some games on our tablets and also researched which campground we were going to next.  We hadn't decided yet if we were only staying 1 night here or 2 nights, but after planning the rest of our trip to Florida we decided we would stay 2 nights.  That also give me some time to clean the bugs off the front of the camper.  We called it a night and went inside for bed at 11:30.
